Few tips that can help you come out of first stage of depression.
1. Listen to good music - As soon as you get up in the morning, listen to good morning songs like bhajans. In case you do not feel like listening to bhajans, play old (black and white era) or new soft Hindi songs; however listening to sad songs is complete NO. (जिंदगी में वैसे ही दुःख कम हैं क्या जो औरों के भी चाहिए). No loud music please... DO NOT watch the songs...LISTEN.
2. Continue to listen to songs anytime during the day (or as and when you feel like). If you enjoy the music; you can start the leg tapping also. Whenever feel like; clap.
3. Exercise - If you are not a exercise type of person; start walking withing your home...from one room to another for atleast 20-30 minutes in the morning, and post lunch & dinner.
If you can go outside on walk, nothing like that. Start with 1-2 kms per day and extend it to 4-5 kms per day, within a week's time, depending upon your physical strength. Do Not overexert.
If you start yoga or gym.....you are already on the recovery path.
Meditation is the best way to come out of depression. If you can do it 5-10 mins per day... will give you best results. To start with during anytime of the day...just concentrate on your breathing...inhaling and exhaling.
4. Start reading...reading can be newspapers, magazines, novels, anything and everything as per your interests. PLEASE NOTE - reading has to be from paper prints and NOT the laptop, mobile or any other electronic devices.
5. Take up small tasks - may be one task one day - like cleaning your almirah, arranging your books, washing your bike or car, cooking dal rice or any one dish on one single day. Boys...believe me, this is stress buster.
6. Gardening - Try to plant a new sapling in your garden. If you do not have a garden; start getting a plant, some soil and other requirements from nursery. Do it one plant per week. If it's summer; go for cactus.
7. Identify your hobbies and nurture them...they could be anything like drawing, painting, playing musical instruments, etc.
8. Connect with people who do not know you and do not have your background. May be social activity groups, NGOs, music bands, etc. They do not bother to understand your background and are focused more on their goals or hobbies. You can connect on social media however in person meetings are compulsory.
9. Start writing something, whatever comes to your mind...on a piece of paper. Once you write it; you can tear it off, if you wish.
Once you start working on some of these points; keep repeating these tasks / activities for few days or weeks; you can find your recovery path easily. Live your life...everyone wants to see your smiling happy face.
